The Vision to Create an Award Winning Remodel

John Cramer, principal of Cramer E. Construction is proud of his recent NARI Contractor of the Year CotY award, because his project excelled despite facing some daunting obstacles. A variance issue that arose when the property was resurveyed meant that the original plan for a large side extension and dormer had to be redesigned. Fortunately, Cramer has an educational background in architecture and construction management, which placed him in good stead when it came time to provide vision and insight for the redesign. The result was a NARI CotY award winning remodel in New Hyde Park, New York that vastly exceeded the homeowner’s expectations.

Can Your Plumbing Handle the Increased Load of New Gas Powered Appliances?

Now that winter is starting to feel like a distant memory, a lot of homeowners are looking to upgrade their outdoor appliances. A new pool heater, a gas barbecue, a fire pit, or even a back-up generator in case of emergencies are just some of the gas powered appliances that people add to their homes. Before you upgrade, it’s a smart move to call in a plumber to make sure your gas lines and gas meter can handle the additional load, says Vincent Scialli, President of Hicksville based Scialli Plumbing & Heating. “Our company is all about building relationships with our clients,” says Scialli. Developing Your Landscape Project into Painless Manageable Phases

Embarking on a major landscaping project can put many homeowners in a state of frustration. Overwhelmed by a stark, empty landscape, homeowners imagine the time, expense, and inconvenience involved, and often feels too paralyzed to even start. Phil Terribile, owner of Brightwaters based Terri Associates Landscape Corporation, recommends that homeowners speak with a professional landscaper to ease their pain and anxiety.

A good landscaper will work with you to accommodate your schedule and your budget, says Terribile. “Just because you don’t have endless funds doesn’t mean you can’t ultimately have a beautiful landscape,” he adds. The key is to plan out the entire project in advance with the help of a three dimensional architectural drawing and then break it down into phases that fit the homeowner’s budget and needs, Terribile explains.

Peter Gudz, owner of Long Island Landscape Designs, takes pride in the fact that his company is a family run business. “This business is second generation family owned and operated”, say Gudz. Most of our clients comment that they like working with a family run business because it gives them a certain level of confidence, security and trust that we will deliver the highest quality work. Every Homeowner’s Dream Renovating a Home from “Soup to Nuts”

When John Joyce, owner and president of Huntington Station based John J. Contracting Corporation, was asked to do a home renovation from the ground up, he jumped at the opportunity. “Our firm takes on all types of home renovation projects—big and small,” says Joyce. But the projects he enjoys most of all involve a challenge. And building a home from scratch presents just the type of challenge Joyce’s company thrives on.
The home, located in Roslyn, New York was originally an approximately 2,200 square foot Cape Cod style structure, that was around sixty-five or seventy years old, says Joyce. The family had lived in the home for about two years before deciding it was time to renovate. Because they had spent a good period of time in the original space, the owners had a very good idea of what their wants and needs were with respect to the future structure, points out Joyce. Rather than adding on to the existing home, the owners preferred that the project entail a complete tear down, with the end goal of more than doubling the useable square footage of the home to about 4,900 square feet.
